Since its establishment almost thirty years ago, College of Economy & Trade is committed to cultivating advanced professionals in such fields as Applied Economics, Human Resource Management, Labor and Social Security, etc. by closely following the needs of national and local economic construction. Currently, the college has more than 70 teachers, among whom there are 12 professors, 25 associate professors, 1 national excellent teacher, 4 young and mid-aged university core teachers in Chongqing, and 1 prominent youth. The Applied Economics is the primary discipline and is authorized to grant masters degree. The college has also established two professional master degree programs including MBA and Assets Appraisal and six undergraduate programs including Economics, Human Resource Management, Finance, Financial Engineering, International Economics and Trade, Labor and Social Security. The college currently holds more than 1600 full-time students including overseas students, postgraduates and undergraduates.

The experimental teaching center of economic management is the main experimental teaching demonstration center in Chongqing, and the research center of labor economy and human resource is the key research facility of humanities and social sciences in Chongqing. In addition, the college has also established several research institutes including performance management research institute, “social security research institute, “personnel assessment center, etc.

In the last five years, the school has undertaken more than 100 projects involving national social science fund and projects commissioned by provincial and ministerial bodies and enterprises, with the total scientific research funds of more than five million. Nearly 600 papers have been published on well-known academic journals as Economic Research Journal and the Journal of Quantitative & Technical Economics, etc. More than 20 monographs have been published. The school has been awarded 12 scientific research prizes at provincial level, including 2 first prizes.
